Welcome, beautiful people!
I’m Erica – a filmmaker and former Emmy Award-winning TV news reporter with a career that’s spanned continents, crises, and deeply human stories.
For twenty years, I jumped from news station to news station (as most broadcast journalists do), starting in Amarillo, Texas, and ending in Beijing, China. I earned several awards along the way, including an Edward R. Murrow for exposing a fraud scheme in Florida and an Emmy for my coverage of Superstorm Sandy, that devastated New York.
But it was in China – locked down during COVID with my then-husband and young son – that my personal life story took a turn. After returning to the States and amicably divorcing, I documented the unraveling of my marriage and the unexpected joy of my emotional rebirth.
What started as just journaling became a creative calling to turn my lived experience into a film. I dove into a screenwriting program at NYU, joined a writing group, and spent a full year working intensively with a screenwriting coach to shape my first feature.
As I continue to develop my original screenplay into a viable movie, I’m driven by the same curiosity, courage, and commitment to truth that defined my journalism.
Only this time, I’m telling my own story.
